It takes about two weeks for the emerging bud to completely open and once it does, the flower fades after just a single day. Not to worry, many other blooms are on their way, providing daily dose of loveliness and gingery aroma throughout the summer.
For some reason, mine have never bloomed. But I leave them in the ground for the foliage.
ReplyDeletePlants seem to respond differently depending on where they're located. A ginger (or any plant, for that matter) that does well in one spot, may do poorly in another. Makes me realize my plants know what they need way better than I do.
DeleteHi Sherry. I was wondering if you have any idea where I can buy this type of Ginger? I have several different ones in my yard, and they do great, but I've never seen the Disney kind before and I love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for not responding sooner. If you are still looking for this type of ginger, let me know. I might be able to help.
